BBC lighting workshop

On friday the 14th of november, we went tot he BBC in white city and did a work shop on lighting in camera work with Shelly Love. we made a short film about a man being abducted by aliens. i was the actor in the film and i took part in writing the story behind it and helped set up the shots and angles. Close up shots were used to show my face during the abduction scene to show emotion and help give a picture of what is going on. a point of view shot was used to give the feeling of confusion in the scene when i am strapped to a table and i think that this shot was especially effective because the auto focus was taken off the camera so that it looked very realistic and so that it created a sense of fear. When we return we are going to edit the clips we filmed and make them into our short film.

storyboard sequence

5 shot sequence

In the 5 shot sequence we did as a group, we used a compilation of close up an mid shots so that we could display the emotion on the actors face. the shots used were quite long and we used zooms to point out the focal point of the shots.

RULE OF THIRDS

the rule of thirds is the positioning of a camera shot that is framed so that the 4 main focus points are at the intersections of the lines. the top line in the frame should be were a persons eyes are placed in a shot.
